The loss of walls around the heart,
sheet rock cracking, paint peeling,
It's chipped. Hands move along picking
revealing such an oddity
this small thing

The beat of the heart,
Steadfast; pumping, always pumping
Fingers approach hesitantly
still aglow

the shimmer, beads of sweat
persist, continue on
everlast, must not decay

Those hesitant fingers hover,
they clamber to lift the rubble

Everlasting
Hands yet again, raise the heart from the rubble
